AARA Antenna Party Projects
The Acadiana Amateur Radio Association, Inc. is involved in many projects within the club.
One of these projects is the repair of antennas and towers for our members that are
unable to do this work themselves. These antenna parties usualy take place on the weekend
when weather permits. We have taken pictures of some of this work and put them on the web
so others may get and idea of what the club is doing and how much fun we are having.

Eddie Miller W5EXI, was the first person scheduled for antenna work. Eddie has a 80 meter
dipole that had some bad coax, this coax was replaced and problem fixed. Eddie is Honary
Vice President and probably the oldest member in our club. We think he was the one that
told Marconni about radio (Hi). At Eddie's QTH, it was Glenn-KD5NVC, Danny-KD5JSM, on
the roof, and Rick-N5RLM, Charlie-KC5LTL, Charlie-KC5FES, Mel-N5GTI, Herman KN5GRK and
Eddie-W5EXI on the ground.

Next it was Stu Rhoner WD5FDD's QTH for putting up a HiGain Explorer 14 beam antenna on a
60 foot tower usinga a "Hazer" and retuning a 2 meter yagi. The beam is a 40-20-10 meter
and as you can see in the following pictures, it is extremely large. Stu assembled the
antenna from the box, took very careful measurements and somehow managed to get the antenna
on his roof all by himself. After the antenna was up, a SWR reading was taken and it was
right on the money. Stu is 70+ years old but can work like a person 21 years old.
