The AARA had their Field Day 2008 on Saturday June 28th and Sunday June 29 under the large pavilion in Gossen Memorial Park in Rayne, Louisiana. Some of our "key" persons that normaly are a big help on Field Day were missing in action this year. Nick Pugh K5QXJ, usualy cooks breakfast on Sunday mornings and makes the AMSAT contacts is still in rehab from a fall that took place some 70 days ago. You can check for updates on Nick by clicking here . Joann, Nick's XYL uploads a brief daily summery of Nick's progress. Another "key" person is John Martin KA5BSE, who usualy has a lot to do with setting up the antennas and oversees that everything runs smoothly, is undergoing kemo and radiation treatment for a bout with cancer. It was a big "let down" for John to have to sit back and watch. Lee Fontonet WB5GJG, was scheduled to do the Sunday Bar-B-Que, but prior to Field Day, he managed to cut a big gash in his foot which kept him out of the picture, however Weston Hebert KB5WI and Arnold Lemaire KE5JXC stepped in and covered for Lee. Also a big "THANKS" to James Magin KE5SAS for his donation of about 10 pounds of sausage to go on the pit with the pork steaks. All came out well on the Bar-B-Que and noone complained. Calvin Begnaud KD5JCT who normaly brings the AMOS van to locations had surgery the week before Field Day, so Rick Breaux N5RLM filled in for him. Keep the above persons in your prayer list and pray for a speedy recovery for all. The AARA would like to THANK all that came out to visit and pitch in with all the work and hope to see you in the future. 73's de Herman KN5GRK The following photos of Field Day 2008 were taken by: Karen Marshall KE5RPI (the ones with the date on them).
