BTW, the name chosen for the Mobile Operations Van is "AMOS" which stands for Amateur Mobile Operations Service.

These photos were taken the day the van was purchased and delivered to Rick's shop.

Thanks to Rick-N5RLM, Stu-WD5FDD, Cal-KD5JCT, Charlie-KC5LTL, Phil-KB5EKD, and Danny-KD5JSM for doing all the mechanical work on the van.

The following photos were taken on February 8, 2002. They show the work done by the carpenters Cal-KD5JCT and Stu-WD5FDD. These guys have spent a lot of time and effort to help in this project, when you see them, give them a pat on the back.

Looking thru the back doors on the left you will see a cabinet which will contain a bar sink. Next you will see a Bud equipment rack for installation of radios, power supplies, ect. Under the work bench you will see a small electric refrigator. Looking thru the back doors on the right. You will see a full height broom cabinet, then you will see a storage cabinet with ten storage spaces, then you will see a cabinet with drawers for the microwave and coffee pot. The long bench seat can be folded out to make a full size bed for overnight operation. The operation area is seperated from the driving area by sliding doors with locks.

The following shots were taken on April 18th after our carpenters Calvin - KD5JCT & Stu - WD5FDD installed the bar sink, installed overhead shelf over workbench and installed locking-sliding doors that seperate the cab from the work area. They have also installed cabinet trim and other minor details. We are also in the process of installing a "new" 13,000 btu AC and flourcesent lighting fixtures and carpet on the floors.

The following pictures were taken by Glenn Breaux KD5NVC on May 29, 2002. As you can see, the crew have really put in some long hours of work. A new ceiling has been added, the "new" central air conditioner is installed and working good. Four flouresent light fixtures are now wired and working, power strips for AC and DC are installed and wired to a breaker panel mounted in the top of the 19" rack. A one piece carpet is now installed. A "basket" rack was donated to mount on the back of the unit to mount one of the donated generators. A computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse have been donated to the van project plus a few other items that I will mention later.

Glenn - KD5NVC did all the electrical wiring inside the van with help from Stu - WD5FDD and Cal - KD5JCt. These guys have spent some long hours and a lot of personal expense in transit to and from the van which is located in Duson, LA at Rick Breaux's - N5RLM QTH and shop.

Whenever you see these guys, please give them a "pat on the back" for their fine work.

Today Stu WD5FDD, Cal KD5JCT, John KA5BSE , and Dan KD5JSM worked on AMOS and the tower trailer. AMOS now has a new rear bumper. The crew installed a basket in place of the original bumper. The basket will serve as a mount for the 3 KW generator and a Screwdriver antena. It will also make entry into the van easier. The basket was donated to the club thru KN5GRK, the Screwdriver antenna was donated by K5DPG, the generator was donated by KD5PCW. One of the Harris 12v. 35a. power supplies was mounted in the rack and wired to the d.c. strip on the operators' bench.

New fenders were added to the tower trailer. Other adjustments were made and the tower was washed. This week, some paint will be put on and all moving parts will be greased.

Today E.J. KD5SZN, Stu WD5FDD, and Calvin KD5JCT put the lettering and logos on the Mobile Operations Van. It is now starting to look impressive.
Monday February 10th, the rear springs were overhauled to raise the van rear end and to eliminate the exhaust system from banging into the undercarriage when you hit some rough road.

I went to Duson and took a picture of the 5 kw Onan generator trailer after a hood was fabricated by Danny - KD5JSM, John - KA5BSE, Calvin - KD5JCT & Stu - WD5FDD. The other shots were taken during the 2003 Field Day Event. The generator was donated by Al Oubre - K5DPG and the trailer was fabricated by John - KA5BSE and Danny - KD5JSM.
